High school cross country is when Alissa realized her love for running and endurance sports. She received a track & field/cross country scholarship to attend Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. She was chosen to run the 3000 meter steeplechase for her team when it was introduced to the NCAA for women for the first time in 2002. She currently holds the Western Carolina school record for this event , which was set in 2004.
After graduating college, Alissa continued pursuing her love of endurance sports. She has been part of the Simple Green road cycling team in Raleigh, NC and competed in numerous triathlons and running races over the years including the New York City Marathon. Her greatest undertaking perhaps was Ironman Louisville in Louisville, KY in August 2012. She finished near the top in her division and is determined to obtain that ticket to Kona one day! A dedicated member of the CrossFit community she became a Crossfit Level 1 Trainer in February 2013 and is excited to learn more and more about this booming sport every day.
